Thomas Fogarty Winery is located at the northern end of the Santa Cruz Mountains wine region. This is the oldest mountainous grape growing region in California, known as Chaine di Or, or "Chain of Gold". In the late 1800's, over one thousand acres of commercial vineyards existed in this area.

Estate Chardonnay: Our Estate Chardonnay benefits from the region's long, cool growing season, mountain soils, and an efficient trellising system which maximizes the sun's exposure, allowing the production of grapes brimming with intense color and flavor. Our barrel-fermented Estate Chardonnay undergoes 100% malolactic fermentation while being aged for eight to ten months in French and American oak. The result is a rich wine, full of fruit flavors and a toasty complexity.

Estate Pinot Noir: This flagship wine represents some of the best Pinot Noir in California. We maintain six acres of this prestigious, noble grape, with constant hands on attention. The unique micro-climates and ideal growing conditions yield an exceptional fruit. The grapes undergo extended maceration and whole-berry fermentation which extracts as much color and flavor out of the fruit as possible; this is evident in the final product. Our Pinot Noir is treated to 100% French oak for 14 to 20 months, imparting depth, vanillin tones, and seductive qualities.

Estate Merlot: This truly distinctive Merlot comes from a two-acre vineyard located on the lower elevation of the winery property. The vines, sheltered by wild oak tress, are planted on a steep southeasterly slope, providing ideal sun exposure for this otherwise cool domain. The succulent fruit is filled with vibrant aromas of cherry and currants, and possess great depth and longevity. This is one of the few Merlot Vineyards planted in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Gewurztraminer (ga-Vertz-tra-mee-ner): Thomas Fogarty Winery produces one of the state's most widely acclaimed Gewurztraminers, with the objective being to create a bright, youthful and naturally fruity wine full of character. From this Winery comes a dry, cool-fermented style, known for its intricacies of flavor and aroma. Our Alsatian varietal has received much recognition, including accolades such as "Best White Wine of the Show" and "Quadruple Gold" from top wine competitions and critics.

Cabernet Sauvignon: Since 1981, Thomas Fogarty Winery has produced small lots of Cabernet Sauvignon made from premium grapes from the Santa Cruz Mountains and the Napa Valley. Loads of intense fruit complexity is the hallmark of our Cabs. Put away for 20 to 24 months in a selection of both American and French oak, our lengthy oak and bottle-aging process creates a refined, elegant classic Cabernet.
