Peterson
Winery is located in the Dry Creek Valley in northwest Sonoma County. The root
of Fred Peterson's winegrowing success lies in his in-depth knowledge of the vineyards.
His belief is that by the time he harvests the grapes he has already done most
of the work needed to produce Peterson wines. The winery utilizes two primary
estate vineyards, the Norton Ranch, where the property is located, and the Bradford
Mountain Vineyard. The Norton Ranch is a benchland vineyard nestled in its own
valley in the Lytton Springs area. The soil has a high percentage of clay and
gravel resulting in lower yields but greater intensity, and the vineyard is planted
to Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Sangiovese, Grenache, and other small percentages
of red grapes. The Bradford Mountain estate vineyards are also planted to Zinfandel,
as well as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and others. The 1000 foot elevation above
the Dry Creek Valley floor provides the grapes with slightly cooler growing conditions,
higher acidity, and a longer growing season. For all of Peterson's wines Fred
blends grapes from each of these lots, keeping varietals and blocks of vineyards
separate to maintain a uniqueness to each product.| Search for Peterson Wines to Purchase online |
