1996 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido
This wine emphatically says Pinot Noir. Full-flavored,
ruby red, delicate notes of rose petal and raspberry -- that is how I might
describe it - very much in the vein of our 1993. This one may not get 92 points
from famous wine writers, because it is anything but an inky monster, but
I think it might be a more delicious and compelling Pinot. Santa Barbara Country
3.58 pH 13.796 alcohol - 610 cases made.

1997 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido
This wine reveals an attractive ruby/purple color and a sweet nose of
cherry/plum fruit intermixed witha whiff of green pepper, allspice, and pain
grille notes. The wine is rich and fleshy with good body and an elegant finish.

1997 Syrah California
Proof that "Syrah is King" at the Ojai Vineyards, the 1997s are among
the finest and most concentrated Santa Barbara wines. Deep ruby/purple colored
with a peppery, leathery, mineral, kirsh and blackberry scented nose. Good
depth, full body, and a luscious, low acid profile.

1997 Chardonnay Talley
A naturally made wine without fining or filtration and no acid additions.
The wine exhibits a distinctive, crisp, mineral, citrusy nose and rich, medium-bodied
flavors with the citrus/wet stone component well-displayed. There is good
acidity, an open-knit texture and fine structure. It should drink well for
2-3 years.

1997 Viognier
Roll Ranch This wine has a knockout aroma of white peaches, but none of
the candied banana-like scents of overripeness, and, because of the earlier
picking, it possesses much better acidity, and not a hint of the high alcohol
that has plaged the finish of previous wines. The late picking is certainly
honeyed and rich, but it is completely outclassed by the early pick.
GOOD DEPTH BUT SURPRISINGLY RESTRAINED PERSONALITY.
