Our
family has been growing grapes and making wine in the Anderson Valley in coastal
Mendocino since 1974. We spend a lot of time checking out weather reports. Not
one harvest has been like another. How does a farmer deal with the unpredictability
of the elements in Mendocino? Diversification helps: different clones, different
rootstock and different varieties bud out and ripen at different times, spreading
the risk of weather glitches. The twelve bottlings released last holiday season
are a testimony to diversity: aromatic whites with no strong oak to muddle the
fruit; bargain-priced dry whites;
hearty reds, punched-down by hand and aged in oak; dessert wines kissed with the
noble rot; fresh, non-alcoholic grape juices.| Search for Navarro Wines to Purchase online |
