Founded in 1983, the goal at Merryvale has always been to produce world class wines from grapes grown in the Napa Valley's finest vineyards. From the first vintage, the partners of Merryvale have pursued this vision under the guidance of Winemaker Bob Levy. Levy is recognized not only for his expertise as a vintner, but also for his knowledge and work in the vineyards. Assisted by renowned French ecologist Michel Rolland, Levy seeks wines that are elegant and complex in the European style, yet reflect the exuberant fruit of their Napa Valley heritage.

It was not until 1986 that Merryvale established a permanent home on the site of the first winery to be built after the repeal of Prohibition. Located in the heart of the Napa Valley, the winery is the cornerstone of the southern entrance to St. Helena. Although the building has been completely refurbished with modern wine making equipment, great care has been taken to preserve the charm and warmth of yesteryear.

Thousands of wine enthusiasts Visit the winery each year not only to sample the award-winning wines but to view the wine making process first-hand, surrounded by oak barrels and casks in the unique Tasting Cellar located in the center of this working winery. In 1994, Merryvale unveiled the Tank Room--the ultimate Napa Valley tasting environment, built within a 22,000 gallon wooden cask. Created as a tribute to California's wine making past, guests are invited to view this unique tasting area when visiting the winery. In addition, Merryvale's Cask Room has often been cited as the Napa Valley's most romantic setting for special events with soaring views of a traditional stone cellar lined with two stories of century-old 2,000 gallon casks.

The costly and time-consuming methods used to hand-craft Merryvale wines are demonstrated throughout the product line from the Reserve Selection which includes Profile (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc), a Chardonnay Reserve, and Meritage (a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon) to classic Napa Valley varietal wines including Cabernet Saungnon, Merlot, Chardonnay "Starmont" and Sauvignon Blanc.
