Located
in the cool Green Valley of Sonoma County, Iron Horse Vineyards enjoys a growing
international reputation for producing sparkling wines second to none in quality,
value and prestige. For over a decade, Iron Horse wines have graced the glasses
of White House occupants from Reagan to Clinton. Although the winery is best known
for its méthode champenoise sparkling wines, Iron Horse's Chardonnay, rare Pinot
Noir, Sangiovese, Fumé Blanc blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier, and delicious
Cabernet Sauvignon are not to be overlooked. All the wines are produced using
100% estate-grown grapes. The Iron Horse name comes from a passenger train built
in 1905. The winery's rampant horse logo is from a 19th Century weathervane found
in the debris of a burned horse barn on the property. Audrey and Barry Sterling
founded the winery in 1976 with their children, Joy and Laurence, and Joy's husband,
Forrest Tancer, winemaker at Iron Horse. Winemaking at Iron Horse is truly a family
affair, and Joy has recounted many of the family's experiences and adventures
in tow books: Vintage Feasting and A Cultivated Life. | Search for Iron Horse Wines to Purchase online |
