Welcome to Hanzell Vineyards Estate-Grown Chardonnay & Pinot Noir
from Sonoma, California
"One of the most influential producers in California's winemaking history."
-- Howard Goldberg, New York Times
800 feet high in the Mayacamas Mountains, north of the picturesque town of
Sonoma, Hanzell Vineyards was founded in 1953 with a vision of making great Californian
wine of intensity, grace and longevity. Today, as yesterday, Hanzell Vineyards
grows and makes chardonnay and pinot noir from their estate vineyards that drape
the hillsides next to the narrow, winding drive up to the classic 1950s winery.
Adhering to the traditions of artisan winemaking, Hanzell Vineyards hand-crafts
its wines as few still do today. The beautiful winery, modeled on the Burgundian
estate of Clos de Vougeot, was built to handle the fruits of the vineyards with
the most gentle techniques and modern innovations of its time. Hanzell Vineyards
continues the Zellerbach vision with wines of intensity, grace and longevity prized
by collectors and connoisseurs from around the planet.
"Hanzell was the first post-Prohibition California winery consecrated to refinement."
-- Matt Kramer, Wine Spectator
