El Molino was one of the first wineries in the Napa Valley. Founded in 1871 by W.W. Lyman, the winery was built three miles north of St. Helena and operated until Prohibition. Completely restored in 1981, including its hand-dug tunnel, it is now family-owned and operated. Conditions are ideal for limited production of premium wine. We take pride in producing a handcrafted wine using old-world techniques.

1999 Harvest
 It was another late harvest in the Napa Valley. Unseasonably warm weather at the end of September brought the sugar levels up and before we knew it, the grapes were ripe and ready for picking! Harvest was condensed into three very busy weeks this year. We were very pleased with the quality of the fruit and as we put the last barrels of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay "to bed," we feel confident that 1999 will be another excellent vintage for El Molino.
