It is in Apulia that Cosímo Tauríno established himself as a producer of quality wines for great value. Since 1981 when Taurino's wines were first introduced in the US market, they led the vanguard of Apulian producers determined to produce fine wines from their own region. Until that time, this region which produces only slightly less wine than California, generally shipped their wine in bulk for blending with the better known wines of northern Italy and France. Today these wines reflect the intensity with which the Taurinos have achieved their goal of producing Apulian wines to be admired and respected.

Despite the unfortunate death of Cosímo Tauríno, his family led by his wife Rita, son Francesco, and daughter Rosanna, in honor of Mimmo, are running the estate with great enthusiasm. They have added 50 acres of new vineyards with plans for an additional 75.

A new winery has been constructed in celebration of Cosímo and his dedication to the wines of Salento.
