The winery was started by Bob and Patty Brower in 1982. Originally from the east coast the Browers headed to California to fulfill their dream of beginning a winery. The French Country Chateau was built to create an old world atmosphere which exudes warmth and hospitality. The Browers decided to begin their venture in one of the best well kept secrets in the state... Monterey County. Less than 15 years later, Monterey County is one of the leading wine producing regions in the world. Monterey County grapes, state-of-the-art equipment and experienced Winemakers result in these world class wines.

Chateau Julien Wine Estate's initial production in 1982 began in a Monterey warehouse. Construction of the French Chateau began immediately. Today the winery is nestled on a 16 acre wine estate at the foot of the beautiful Carmel Valley mountains. All four of the winery's brands are distributed in over 46 U. S. States as well as Internationally.
